CAE Prep4Work™ Training Institute
The Prep4Work Training Institute (PTI) is operated by Community Arts Experience, Inc. (CAE), a nonprofit Community Development Corporation (CDC) serving Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio.
PTI delivers structured workforce readiness programming that strengthens emotional intelligence, workplace behavioral competencies, and professional capacities required for long-term employment and economic mobility.
PTI addresses a persistent workforce barrier: many individuals enter employment or technical training environments without the emotional regulation, interpersonal competencies, and professional discipline required to sustain employment and function effectively within workplace systems.
While trade schools and occupational training providers focus on technical instruction, the Prep4Work Training Institute focuses on emotional intelligence and soft skills, which employers consistently identify as primary drivers of job retention, workplace performance, and career advancement.
Core competencies strengthened through the program include:
-
emotional intelligence
-
emotional regulation and stress management
-
communication and collaborative teamwork
-
professional accountability and workplace discipline
-
conflict management and problem solving
-
ethical decision-making and workplace conduct
Participants strengthen these competencies prior to or alongside technical training pathways, improving training completion rates, employment retention, and upward career mobility.
PTI operates within CAE’s STOMP4Life™ Community Stability & Mobility Model, a structured, six-pathway framework designed to address the interconnected challenges of Suicide, Trauma, Opioid and Substance Use Disorder, Mental Health Challenges, and Poverty (STOMP).
Through this framework, workforce preparation is integrated with trauma-informed capacity building, stabilization services, and recovery support, enabling individuals to transition successfully into employment and long-term economic participation.
